ICON 2022: Event Recap & Award Recipients

Last week, the first in-person International Convention (ICON) since 2019 took place in Austin, Texas. It wasn’t without delays and flight changes that all of the Ohio district attendees made it out to Austin. Eleven members of the Ohio District attended in person, and many more participated online. On Monday night, the in-person attendees were able to have a district dinner at The Fareground. Thank you to Hannah Riley, Julianne Shaffer, Allison Knowlton, Julie Wetzel, Yuliza Escalante, Annamarie McGuire, Ryan Bolin, Alexis Aldhizer, Colton Morton, Emily Casey, Margaret Lee, and Chad Gardner (District Administrator) for representing the Ohio District in-person at ICON!

CKI members from all over came together in person and online to hear inspiring speakers, attend workshops, elect new International board members, approve International bylaws amendments, recognize individuals, clubs, and districts, and so much more!

Throughout the week, CKI members met in small groups to focus on each one of CKI’s core values: Fellowship, Service and Leadership. Three of our members – Allison, Hannah, and Julie – served as team leads. Additionally, Allison, Margaret, and Annamarie hosted amazing workshops. Feel free to reach out to Allison Knowlton to learn more about event planning, Margaret Lee to learn more about chartering & recruitment, and Annamarie McGuire to learn more about our mental health initiative.

This year marked the end of CKI’s 5 year commitment to the WASH project through UNICEF. CKI surpassed its pledge and raised $278,226.74. Congratulations to Baldwin Wallace University and The Ohio State University – Columbus for raising over $1000 for the WASH project! CKI will continue our partnership with UNICEF with the Brick X Brick project. For more information, visit: https://www.circlek.org/service/brick-x-brick/
